This is your chance to join a winning team. Motor Coach Industries (MCI), an industry leader in Charter and Luxury Touring Coaches, is seeking a Technical Writer to join our team.

The Technical Writer of the Publications team will be responsible for researching technical information from our engineering department and suppliers. The Technical Writer will then utilize this information to create technical articles to build or revise maintenance and operator’s manuals for all MCI products.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Creates and publishes technical articles describing the functionality, maintenance, and operation of electrical or mechanical components used on MCI coach models.
  • Extracts data from production bill of materials, supplier documentation, work instructions and engineering drawings.
  • Integrates spare part details from vendor publications to MCI manuals.
  • Capability to write technical bulletins using engineering drawings and photography for field retrofits.
  • Builds new manuals from current written documentation and supports the long-term sustainability of all MCI publications.
  • Implements revisions to existing manuals as per internal or external customer request.
  • Participates during engineering product reviews and project meetings to get familiar with latest designs and technologies.
  • Contacts suppliers to request maintenance and operating technical information according to department standard AMP-3045.

Educational / Experience Requirements

  • B.S. in English, Technical Writing, or Technologist in Engineering.
  • Individuals with a combination of education and a minimum of 5 years’ experience of technical writing related to automotive or similar industries are encouraged to apply.

Additional Skills / Abilities

  • Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills.
  • Self-starter with attention to detail and sense of urgency in completing assignments with limited supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to develop relationships with stakeholders.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite® FrameMaker® and Microsoft Office Package.
  • Familiar with Automotive metal manufacturing, composite materials, and electrical spare parts.
  • 5 % annual travel.
  • Basic knowledge of QA & QC principles, Six Sigma, Oracle database, Unigraphics or similar CAD program will be added advantages.
