This is your chance to join a winning team. Motor Coach Industries (MCI), an industry leader in Charter and Luxury Touring Coaches, is seeking a Lead Technical Illustrator to join our team.

The Technical Parts Illustrator of the Publications team will be responsible for developing and maintaining comprehensive and accurate technical information for use in our coach parts manuals. Under the direction of the Parts Manual Developer, you will create parts page information as required for manual publishing.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Performs parts manual production and ensures tasks are completed within schedule deadlines.
  • Researches the required serviceability of a component to be represented within the manuals.
  • Interprets and understands associated source data such as the bill of materials, vendor documentation, and engineering drawings.
  • Review information for completeness and accuracy, liaise with engineering staff, and contact internal staff and parts suppliers for further clarification when needed.
  • Works with Parts Manual Developer to meet all project priorities and deadlines while following departmental procedures.
  • Performs and directs quality assurance checks on all work, and analyze and identify illustrating requirements.

Educational / Experience Requirements

  • Graduate from an Engineering technical institute as a draftsperson or technologist in engineering.
  • Individuals with a combination of education and a minimal of 5 years’ experience of technical writing related to automotive or similar industries are encouraged to apply.

  • Portfolio required

Additional Technical Skills / Abilities

  • Excellent command of written English language.
  • Strong graphic design experience in systems such as CorelDraw, IsoDraw, Adobe Illustrator, Unigraphics or similar CAD program.
  • Solid computer knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Attention to detail with organizational, interpersonal and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and possess initiative to seek improvements.
  • Motivated self-starter with capabilities to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
  • Familiar with Automotive metal manufacturing, composites materials, and electrical spare parts.
  • 5 % annual travel
  • Basic knowledge of QA & QC principles, Six Sigma, Oracle database will be added advantages
