This is your chance to join a winning team. Motor Coach Industries (MCI), an industry leader in Charter and Luxury Touring Coaches, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer

Responsible for creating engineering drawings, submit Engineering Change Notice (ECN) to release new products for the aftermarket coach industry. The individual will work with other engineers implementing field test procedures to validate the performance of prototype parts and provide technical support to internal customers to ensure vehicle parts interchangeability

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develops parts BOM for vehicle maintenance, repair or enhancement.
  • Research and creates specifications for new parts designs or modify existing part designs to meet customer requirements.
  • Review and validate changes on material specifications.
  • Design new parts alternatives for obsolete parts.
  • Capability to do technical writing to create installation instructions for retrofit kits.
  • Create, review and implement ECN (engineering change notice) to release new designs through factory and aftermarket new parts release procedures.
  • Field test data consolidation, analysis and validation of new products.
  • Team oriented (working in harmony with others towards organizational, team and individual goals).
  • Willing to travel 5-10% per year.

Educational / Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering
  • 2 years of experience on automotive service repair industry
  • Additional Skills
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Package
    • Excellent written/verbal communication/organizational skills.
    • Self-starter with attention to detail and sense of urgency in completing assignments on target with limited supervision
    • Experience in 2d drafting/3D computer modeling on NX Unigraphics or similar CAD program.
    • Familiar with FMEA design steps and FEA (finite element analysis)
    • Knowledge of quality assurance and quality control principles
